WELLBEING THERAPY AND PRESENT MOMENT PSYCHOLOGY
Rebecca has recently settled into a lovely space in Leeming (WA) operating under her personal brand Present Moment (Psychology). She just loves this name as it represents how she likes to work as a therapist.
Rebecca has been helping those in the community since she registered as a psychologist 15 years ago, establishing her Canning Vale private practice back in 2015. Present Moment Psychology was created during her very brief stint in Melbourne in 2017. At that time she rebranded her Perth-based psychology practice (Life Resolutions Canning Vale) to Wellbeing Therapy Space. Upon Rebecca’s return to Perth in 2018 she decided to work under both brands.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Mental health challenges continue to be misunderstood despite research indicating links to both biological and psychosocial factors, as well as, genetics. Clients are often very unkind to themselves in the face of such difficulties and may experience shame or embarrassment. Present Moment Psychology wanted to create a space of acceptance, lightness and judicious laughter. A place where it is okay to have a sense of humour and not take yourself too seriously. We are all part of the human condition after all.
A Commitment To Lasting Change
Much distress is the result of the way we show up in the world as a result of how we learned to get our needs met in childhood. These learned patterns of behaviour are fixed and often no longer that useful. We explore together what you do in the present moment or in real-time. Often in the therapeutic relationship.
Our practitioners are caring, open-minded and objective. We take a phenomenological perspective that allows us to put aside our assumptions and seek to understand what it is like for you in the world.
Showing Up As A Real World Person
Authenticity is seen as important. Your therapist is a real person with life challenges, often similar to your own. The only difference often is that they spent more time, money and energy on working out how to change it, fix it or stop it! If you are interested in benefiting from their efforts we may be the practice for you.
Present Moment Psychology draws from a range of disciplines including but not limited to; Gestalt Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Thought Field Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy and more.
The Occasional Nugget of Wisdom
If you are lucky you may even gain the odd nugget of wisdom. Many clients have “light bulb moments” through your journey of becoming more self-aware. We love it when our clients are less distressed as a result of therapy. This is not the end goal however, and transition can often be painful. We are there to support you in your journey and share the resources that research has found to assist with difficult experiences (distressing emotions, sensations, memories, thoughts).
